NECCC Board Member Feature: Jeffrey L. Ahl, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP, arCuretecture

About

Jeff L. Ahl has enjoyed a 30-year career working in all facets of the architectural industry with a focus on senior housing design, where he has worked on more than 110 such projects. As a resource to community leaders, planners, care providers and developers. Jeff offers thought provoking presentations that reveal historical precedent and insight into how the senior
housing industry is about to embark on its most significant and challenging change in the last 40 years.

Prior to launching his current firm, arCuretecture, Jeff ventured into a research project that would not only direct his firm,
but change his life. Over the period of 10-months in 2010, Jeff lived in seven different senior homes in five states for a total of
twenty-one days for the purpose of identifying how the design of an environment contributes to the emotional well-being of
the elder residents. Jeff’s research was enlightening in a lot of ways, but most unexpected was how it changed his approach
in design to a focus on the individual rather than the impersonal tasks that take place within the typical senior living environment.
